Getting around

There are four places on the deck. Most movement between them happens by itself, and the rest is one key or one gesture away.

The map#

Orange arrows are the hold gesture: touch and hold anywhere on the touch strip. Grey arrows are keys.

Auto-follow#

Select a device in Reason's rack and the deck opens that instrument's landing page. Reason Remote sends you there directly, whichever profile the instrument lives in.

• Nothing selected, or a device Reason Remote doesn't cover yet: the deck shows a hub, a page of instrument keys plus Document.
• Lite: selecting a device that only the full version covers opens a page that names it and shows what the full version adds. It's not a fault. See Lite vs full.

When auto-follow waits#

Auto-follow pauses while you're on Document, Master or the Piano, so selecting a track doesn't pull the page out from under your hands. It still keeps track of what you select:

• The Go key on the Document page shows the device you selected most recently.
• When you leave, you land on that device, not the one you started from.

This is how you pick a track with Prev and Next, or choose one in Reason while playing the piano, and then go straight to its controls.

The hold gesture#

Touch and hold anywhere on the touch strip. It switches between two places:

You choose the second place by where you go:

• Press Piano and the hold switches between instrument and Piano. That means you can go back and forth between tweaking a sound and playing it.
• Press Document on a hub, or hold the Piano's mode key, and the hold switches between instrument and Document again.

The hold itself never changes the target, so going back and forth can't send you somewhere unexpected.

Back keys#

Back is always the top-left key, and it always moves you one level up:

The Piano has no Back key, because all eight keys are notes. Leave with the hold gesture, or hold the mode key for 0.7 seconds to go to the Document landing page.
