# Mac status

> What works on a Mac today, and what does not. The plugin is Windows-only, so the deck does not follow your selection.

Source: https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/mac/
Applies to: Reason Remote 1.4.0, Reason Remote Lite 1.3.0

There is no Mac build of the Stream Deck plugin, and no date for one.

| | Mac | Windows |
|---|---|---|
| Reason codec and maps | Installs | Installs |
| Both control surfaces | You add them yourself | The installer registers them on Reason 13 or later |
| Virtual MIDI ports | IAC Driver, four buses, created by hand | loopMIDI, created by the installer |
| Stream Deck plugin | No | Yes |
| Auto-follow | No | Yes |
| Dials drawing live values | No, because that is the plugin | Yes |

The installer is the same command on both:

```powershell
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Automate-Pros/reason-remote-setup/main/install.ps1 | iex
```

On a Mac it copies the codec into Reason's Remote folders. Without `sudo` that is your user Library, which Reason reads. The IAC buses and the two surfaces stay manual. The steps are in the [setup repo](https://github.com/Automate-Pros/reason-remote-setup): create four IAC buses, restart Reason, add Automate Pros Stream Deck+ Remote on ports 1 and 2 and Stream Deck+ Master on ports 3 and 4, then lock Master to the Master Section.

What you get is a pair of working Reason surfaces. You can drive them from a Stream Deck profile you import yourself. The plugin is what switches pages when you select a device, and that plugin does not run on macOS. The setup guide says the macOS paths follow Reason's documented layout and have not been tested on a Mac.

Buying the full version does not change this. Lite and the full version are the same Windows plugin with a different instrument list.

If a Mac plugin ships, this page will say so, with a version. Until that sentence is here, it has not shipped.
