# Lite vs full version

> What the free Lite edition covers, what the full version adds, and how to upgrade without redoing setup.

Applies to: Reason Remote 1.4.0, Reason Remote Lite 1.3.0

Reason Remote comes in two editions, sold as separate Stream Deck plugins. They share the same Reason codec, MIDI ports and Reason surfaces, and every page works the same way in both. The difference is **how many instruments** the deck follows.

## What Lite covers

Lite follows 8 devices. Four of them are Reason Free: **Europa**, **Kong**, **ID8** and **Monotone**. The other four are **SubTractor**, **Redrum**, **Radical Keys** and the **[Combinator](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/combinator/)**. Each has a page in the [instrument list](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/instrument-pages/#covered-instruments).

The hub has two pages. **Next** on the first page opens the second, and **Back** returns.

*The Lite hub, page 1. Keys: Europa, Kong, ID8, Monotone, Subtractor, Redrum, Document, Next.*

*The Lite hub, page 2. Keys: Back, RadKeys, Combinator.*

## When you select something else

Select a device that only the full version covers and Lite opens a page naming it:

*What Lite shows for a full-version instrument. Keys: Selected, Get it, Back.*

- **Selected** shows the device you picked.
- **Get it** opens the full version on the Elgato Marketplace.
- **Back** goes to the Lite hub.

Nothing is broken. Select one of Lite's instruments and the deck follows again.

## Upgrading to the full version

1. If you [customised](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/customize/) Lite's profiles, export each one from the Stream Deck app's profile settings first. The full version installs its own profiles, laid out differently, and uninstalling Lite removes Lite's profiles.
2. **Uninstall Lite** in the Stream Deck app: right-click the plugin, then **Uninstall**.
3. Install **[Reason Remote](https://marketplace.elgato.com/product/reason-remote-e601aff3-8dcc-49c8-a978-e3b86b73bb10)** and accept its profiles.

That's it. Leave the codec, loopMIDI ports and Reason surfaces as they are, because both editions use the same ones. [Combinator layouts](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/combinator-layout-file/#sharing-and-updates) are outside the plugin, so they stay too.

> **Important:** Never run both editions at once. They listen on the same feedback port and both switch pages, so the deck flickers between them. Uninstall one before you install the other.
