# Instrument pages

> How an instrument's landing page, section pages and folders are laid out, what the hubs are for, and which instruments are covered.

Applies to: Reason Remote 1.4.0, Reason Remote Lite 1.3.0

Every covered instrument gets its own set of pages, built by hand from that device's Remote parameters. They all follow the same pattern, so once you know one you know them all.

To see what one instrument's pages and dials hold, open it from [all instruments](https://www.reasonremote.com/instruments/).

## The landing page

Selecting an instrument opens its **landing page**. The keys list the instrument's sections, and the dials hold the controls you reach for most.

*SubTractor landing page. Keys: Back, Osc 1, Osc 2, Filter, Flt Env, Amp Env, Global, Mod/LFO. Dials: Volume, Patch, Pitch, Mod.*

- **Back** (top-left) goes to the **hub**.
- The other keys open **sections** such as **Osc 1** and **Filter**, or **folders** like **Mod/LFO**.
- The dials start on **Volume, Patch, Pitch and Mod** on every instrument, so the first thing under your hand is always the same. Dial 2 steps through patches and shows the patch name.
- Each dial has more **banks** behind it: dial 1 holds amp and level controls, dial 2 the filter or the instrument's main sound control, dial 3 oscillators and voice, dial 4 modulation and effects. **Hold and turn** a dial to move through its banks. See [dial banks](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/deck-basics/#dial-banks).

A few instruments swap one of the four where Reason has nothing to map: ID8 has **Sound** instead of Patch, Redrum has **Steps** and **Resolution** instead of Pitch and Mod, and the Radicals have **Character** instead of Mod.

## Section pages

A section key opens that section. The dials change to its parameters, and the key row stays the same so you can jump straight to another section. The section you're on **pulses**.

*SubTractor Osc 1. The current section pulses. Keys: Back, Osc 1, Osc 2, Filter, Flt Env, Amp Env, Global, Mod/LFO. Dials: Wave, Oct · Semi, Cent · Mode, Phase · Kbd.*

Several dials here carry two parameters. Tap one on the strip, or press the dial, to choose which one the dial turns. See [dial gestures](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/deck-basics/#dial-gestures).

**Back** on a section page returns to the landing page.

## Folders

When an instrument has more sections than fit on the keys, some are grouped into a **folder**. A folder key has a small grid icon and lists what's inside. Pressing it opens the first section inside and changes the key row to the folder's sections:

*Inside SubTractor's Mod/LFO folder. Keys: Back, Mix/Noise, Mod Env, LFO 1, LFO 2, Mod Wheel, Ext Mod, Velocity. Dials: Mix, FM · Ring, Nz On · Nz Lvl, Nz Dec · Nz Col.*

**Back** inside a folder moves one level up. Press it again to reach the landing page.

## Switch keys

Some sections put on/off settings on the keys instead of the dials, for example an oscillator's **On** switch. A switch key lights up when the setting is on, and follows the setting when you change it in Reason.

*Europa Engine 1 Wave page: two switch keys. Keys: Back, On, Phase Sync. Dials: Tune, Oct · Semi, Shape · Amt, Wave · Kbd.*

## Hubs

A **hub** is a page of instrument keys plus **Document**. You rarely need one, because auto-follow takes you straight to the instrument. The deck shows a hub when nothing Reason Remote covers is selected, for example when you click an effect or a mixer channel.

*The Core hub, full version. Keys: Subtractor, Friktion, Thor, Fury, Document.*

The full version groups its instruments into seven profiles, each with its own hub, and gives the Combinator a profile of its own. Lite has one hub over two pages. Pressing an instrument key on a hub opens that instrument's pages **without** selecting it in Reason, so the dials only work when that device is the one selected in Reason.

Holding the touch strip on a hub goes to the Document page, as it does on an instrument.

## Covered instruments

Each name opens that device's page: its landing keys, the dial banks on each section, and which edition includes it. The Combinator also has a longer guide page of its own.

That is 27 devices the deck follows, counting the Combinator and not counting Fury. Lite follows 8 of them: Europa, Kong, ID8, Monotone, SubTractor, Redrum, Radical Keys and the Combinator.

Fury is Automate Pros' own Rack Extension. Its key is on the Core hub, and its pages are in the profile for when it is released in the Reason Shop. It is not one of the 27. See [Not covered yet](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/not-covered/).

Effects, PX7 and Scenic aren't covered. Selecting one shows the hub. To ask for a device, use [Request a device](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/request-a-device/).
