The same questions are answered around the guide. This page is the short form. Prices and version numbers come from the site config, so they stay in step with the Marketplace links. Buying questions (refunds, Reason+ and perpetual licences, whether you need loopMIDI) are on the [home page FAQ](https://www.reasonremote.com/#faq).

## What is Reason Remote?

A plugin for the Elgato Stream Deck + that turns it into a control surface for Reason. Select a device in the rack and the deck switches to that device's page: parameters on the four dials, live values on the touch strip, sections on the keys. It also adds a [Document](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/document/) page, a 16-channel [Master](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/master/) mixer and a [Piano](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/piano/).

## Which Stream Deck does it work with?

Only the **Stream Deck +**. Every page is built for its eight keys, four dials and touch strip. Other Stream Deck models are not supported.

## Does it work on a Mac?

The plugin does not. It needs **Windows 10 or later** and Stream Deck software **6.9** or newer. The Reason codec can install on a Mac, without auto-follow. See [Mac status](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/mac/). There is no ship date for a Mac plugin.

## Which versions of Reason?

**Reason 12 or later**, and **Reason Recon**. On Reason 13 or later the installer registers the control surfaces for you. On Reason 12 you add them once by hand.

## Which instruments?

The full version follows 27 devices, including the Combinator. Lite follows 8: Europa, Kong, ID8 and Monotone, plus SubTractor, Redrum, Radical Keys and the Combinator. [Supported devices](https://www.reasonremote.com/instruments/) has a page for each one.

## What is the difference between Lite and the full version?

How many instruments the deck follows. Document, Master, Piano, Combinator layouts and the [actions](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/actions/) are the same in both. Lite is Free. The full version is $20. See [Lite vs full](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/lite-vs-full/).

## How do I upgrade from Lite?

Uninstall Lite in the Stream Deck app, then install Reason Remote from the Marketplace. Don't run both at once: they fight over the deck and it flickers. The codec, the MIDI ports and the surfaces stay. If you edited Lite's profiles, export them first. See [upgrading](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/lite-vs-full/#upgrading-to-the-full-version).

## What else do I install?

[loopMIDI](https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html) for four virtual MIDI ports, and [PowerShell 7](https://aka.ms/powershell) to run the one-line installer. The installer can download loopMIDI. No other Stream Deck plugin is required. Setup is about 20 minutes, once. See [Getting started](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/getting-started/).

## Where do I buy it?

On the Elgato Marketplace: [Reason Remote](https://marketplace.elgato.com/product/reason-remote-e601aff3-8dcc-49c8-a978-e3b86b73bb10) for $20, or [Reason Remote Lite](https://marketplace.elgato.com/product/reason-remote-lite-14ff1e75-a9a5-49cf-a7fd-1f77a9946b22) for free. It is a one-time purchase. Plugin updates arrive through the Stream Deck app. The codec updates when a release note tells you to [re-run the installer](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/updating/).

## Who makes it?

[Automate Pros](https://www.automate-pros.com), an independent developer. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Reason Studios or Elgato. See [About](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/about/).

## The deck doesn't switch. Where do I start?

Put a [Reason Remote Status](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/actions/#reason-remote-status) key on the deck. If it stays blank, no MIDI is arriving on loopMIDI Port 2. The rest of the symptoms are in [Troubleshooting](https://www.reasonremote.com/guide/troubleshooting/).
